Richard Naylor

Naylor had a very frustrating time with injuries at Ipswich Town in 2000-01 and never managed to get a decent run in the first team.

He missed the beginning of the season while recovering from summer operations on both knees and eventually returned to the starting line-up at the end of September when he replaced David Johnson.

He scored his first goal in the Middlesbrough game when 'keeper Mark Crossley, under pressure, cleared the ball straight to him and Naylor promptly returned it into the net.

Shortly afterwards it was discovered that he had been playing with a broken femur!

Once he had recovered from that, the old trouble in his knees flared up again and at one point it was thought that he would need further operations on them to resolve the situation.

However a second opinion found that he had one leg shorter than the other and suggestions to counteract this problem improved matters greatly.

He was soon back in first-team action and scored the equaliser in the last game of the season at Derby County when his shot took a wicked deflection and trickled into the net.

Naylor's contract at Ipswich Town was extended to June 2009 in November 2005.

After a loan spell, Naylor joined Leeds United in February 2009 with a contract to June 2011.

He joined Rotherham United in January 2012 with a contract to June 2012 that was cancelled in May 2012.
