After arriving from Nottingham Forest via Scunthorpe United in the summer of 2000, Richard appropriately made his Darlington debut against his former club at the City Ground in the shock Worthington Cup victory in early September.
He subsequently featured in the majority of games although many of his appearances came from the subs' bench.
He is a tricky direct left winger who is dangerous when cutting in from the flank and able to deliver accurate crosses for his team-mates.
Richard was made available for transfer by Cambridge United in January 2005.
