Hinds began to establish himself in the Tranmere Rovers first team in the early stages of 2000-01 producing a number of calm and mature displays in defence.
A key player in the club's reserves his campaign came to a premature end in March when he suffered a leg injury.
A centre back who passes the ball accurately, he can also play in a midfield role if required.
Hinds joined Hull City on a one-year contract. It was extended for a further season in October 2003.
Hinds joined Scunthorpe United in June 2005 with a two-year contract.
He joined Sheffield Wednesday in July 2007 with a two-year contract that was extended to June 2011 in May 2009.
Hinds joined Yeovil Town in January 2012 with a contract to June 2012 that was extended to June 2013 in May 2012.
He joined Bury in July 2013 with a one-year contract.
