Having joined Peterborough in July 2000 Richard took time to settle in at London Road but quickly showed that he was an excellent acquisition for boss Barry Fry. He controlled the centre of midfield and made the team click in the first half of the season, but was badly hampered by injuries after Christmas and rarely featured afterwards. He was sorely missed by Posh and the team appeared much less fluid in his absence.
Following a loan spell, Richard joined Cheltenhanm Town in November 2002 with a contract to the end of the 2003-04 season.
