Has notched up a half-century of appearances for Port Vale. Richard found it difficult to break into the Port Vale first team last season, being restricted to reserve team football with the exception of two appearances in the first-team line-up and a handful of outings from the subs' bench. An enthusiastic right-winger he was released by Vale in the 2001 close season and was soon snapped up by Macclesfield. However, his Moss Rose contract was not renewed when it expired in January 2002.
