Although playing for most of the season with an injury, Richard made a tremendous impression at Brighton in 2000-01.
An effective midfield player, he is strong in the tackle, has a terrific right-foot shot and distributes the ball accurately.
One free kick in particular stands out - the 25-yard bullet drive which opened the scoring in the FA Cup first round victory at Aldershot and was featured on 'Match of the Day'.
Richard's contract at Brighton & Hove Albion was extended to June 2006 in January 2005 then to June 2007 in May 2006.
