A skilful and pacey winger, Ralph Birkett's opportunities were limited in a brilliant Arsenal side but he went on to success at Middlesbrough, earning an England cap.

Ralph teamed up with his former Arsenal colleague Ray Bowden on Tyneside. A popular character, the speedy right-winger maintained a healthy scoring rate throughout his career.
