Having missed virtually the whole of 1999- 2000 with knee problems Phil was once again dogged by injuries last season. He made several appearances in the early part of the campaign but then went down with groin trouble, and although he returned to the first team in December he then suffered an achilles injury that kept him out of action for some time. When fully fit he is a hard-working left-sided midfield player.
