Phil Jagielka made his Sheffield United debut against Swindon Town in the final League match of the 1999-2000 season whilst still a trainee.
He was far from overawed and was rewarded with a professional contract the following day.
His Blades contract was extended to June 2005 in May 2003, then to June 2007 in January 2004, then to June 2009 in August 2006.
He joined Everton in July 2007 with a five-year contract that was extended to June 2014 in May 2009, to June 2015 in March 2011, to June 2017 in January 2013, to June 2018 in June 2015 and to June 2019 in August 2017.
The experienced centre-back replaced Gareth Barry in England's Euro 2012 squad after the Manchester City man was ruled out with a groin injury.
Phil can ably fill in in midfield, which is where he used to play for Sheffield United.
He was included in England's 2014 World Cup squad.
Phil re-joined Sheffield United in July 2019 with a one-year contract that was extended for a further month in June 2020 following the season being extended due to coronavirus restrictions.
His Blades contract was extended to June 2021 in August 2020.
