Helin joined Second Division Luton Town from FC Jokerit during the Scandinavian close season and made a fine debut for the Hatters, scoring a late equaliser to save a point at Bury. He added stability in the centre of the park and featured regularly apart from a short absence in the new year with a foot problem. An experienced right-sided midfield player he distributes the ball accurately and can deliver a fine defence-splitting pass. Helin added to his tally of caps during his stay at Kenilworth Road when he came on for his country from the subs' bench in the closing stages of the World Cup qualifier against England at Anfield. Helin has previously played for Ikast, PPT Pon and HJK Helsinki. After a three month loan spell in Turkey, Helin's contract at Stockport County was cancelled at the end of the 2001-02 season.
