Pedro Matias

Matias is a former Spain Under-21 international who began his career with Almeria. Great ball control and although neither the paciest or the most prolific of players he provides more than his fair share of assists.Matias enjoyed an outstanding season with Walsall in 2000-01 when he snatched some vital goals and netted a great hat-trick in the 5-1 win over Wycombe Wanderers in March. He made an outstanding contribution to the Play-Off semi final win against Stoke City with a finely angled goal to set up the win and another to settle the issue when his persistence saw a defender's clearance fly off him into the net. A talented left-sided midfield player his mazy runs down the wing set up many an attack for the Saddlers while he willingly dropped back to help the defence when the going was tough.
