Srníček arrived on Tyneside when Newcastle United were struggling to remain in the Second Division.
He stayed to become the Magpies regular keeper during one of the club's most exciting eras and became a cult hero as he worked hard to come to terms with the physical demands of the game in England.
Srníček returned to Newcastle in September 2006 with a three-month contract.
