Wanless had another fine campaign for Cambridge United in 2000-01 when he was voted 'Player of the Season' by the club's fans for the third successive year.
A brave and tough-tackling midfield player, he led the team from the front, always giving 100 per cent and also developed something of a goalscoring touch netting ten goals during the season.
Once again a near ever-present for the Us, he has now made more than 200 Football League appearances for the club.
Wanless joined Oxford United in August 2003 with a one-year contract.
