Walsh was bought from Luton for a then record fee of £700,000 but was unfortunate with injuries. With Liverpool he was a 1st Division Championship winner in 1986, League Cup runner-up in 1987 and European Cup runner-up 1985. He moved on to Tottenham Hotspur where he won the FA Cup in 1991.
