Having previously played for Kingstonian, Molesey, Sutton United and Carshalton Athletic, Paul joined Rushden & Diamonds in the summer of 1997 from Enfield, having attracted the attention of a number of Football League clubs.
He became a regular England semi-professional international.
Paul's contract at Luton Town was extended to June 2009 in February 2007.
