Tait's form in the centre of the park was one of the few bright features of a very dismal 2000-01 season at Oxford United. Unfortun-ately he missed a lengthy period in mid-season with an ankle problem and was again sidelined by injury in the closing weeks of the campaign. In between he proved to be a key influence in midfield, creating chances and tidying up the loose ends, while he also found time to net three goals including the winner at Northampton.
