After an excellent first season with Crewe Alexandra, Paul struggled to win a regular place in the first-team squad in 2000-01.
He made the starting line-up on just nine occasions and towards the end of the campaign found that Rob Hulse and Dean Ashton had a firm hold on the strikers' positions at Gresty Road.
A tall target man with good control, he flicks the ball on very effectively and can always be relied upon to give his best.
Paul joined Rochdale in July 2004 with a two-year contract that was cancelled in January 2006.
He then joined Chester City with a contract to the end of the 2005-06 season.
