Stoneman's versatility shone through once again for Halifax Town in 2000-01. Essentially a central defender, he had to cover in midfield on a number of occasions but his commitment to the club was exemplary. He scored with a penalty against York City in October and with an 18-yard shot in the excellent 2-0 win over Plymouth Argyle in December.
