Rickers was once again a regular in the Oldham Athletic line-up in 2000-01. Solid but unspectacular, he worked tirelessly in midfield and has now made over 200 Football League appearances for the club.
The high point of his campaign was surely the 2-0 win at Huddersfield Town in the Worthington Cup First Round when he gave a fine performance and scored the two goals that knocked the First Division club out of the competition.
Rickers's contract at Northampton Town was cancelled in February 2004 before joining Bury on non-contract terms.
