Paul McKenna

A product of the youth system at Preston North End, Paul signed for the club in January 1996.

He made his first team debut as a substitute a year later in January 1997 in a match against Watford and scored in his first full match against Wycombe Wanderers.

Paul could not become a regular and did not appear for almost a year, coming on as a substitute against Southend United on Easter Saturday 1998.

He kept his place for the rest of the season and became a regular early in the 1998-99 season, on the right side of midfield instead of his prefered central role.

A knee and ankle injuries disrupted the latter part of his season.

A hernia disrupted his 1999-2000 season but he did win a Division Two championship medal.

He was a regular in 2000-01 and became an increasingly important member of Preston's midfield, where he operated mostly on the left side.

Paul made his 100th senior appearance at Huddersfield Town in October 2000.

He went on to be a near ever-present in First Division matches, showing good stamina and deceptive pace.

He is a tireless box-to-box player who tackles back and covers well.

His value to the club was shown when he was given an extended contract in mid-season.

It was extended again in August 2004 to June 2008, then to June 2009 in November 2005 and to June 2011 in August 2008.

Paul joined Nottingham Forest in July 2009 with a three-year contract.

He joined Hull City in July 2011 with a two-year contract.
