Previously on trainee forms at Nottingham Forest, this talented left back was a regular in the Lincoln City team until new manager Alan Buckley opted for experience as the Imps battled against relegation.
In what was his first full season of league football, Paul showed plenty of promise both in his defensive qualities and in his ability to push forward.
Paul agreed a new two-year deal with Lincoln City in July 2003 before joining Watford in March 2004 with a contract to June 2007.
