A little unlucky not to have taken over the keeper's jersey at Wimbledon following the departure of Neil Sullivan, Paul Heald was second choice to Kelvin Davis in 2000-01, being restricted to just a couple of appearances from the subs' bench and a place in the starting line-up for the final game of the season against Norwich City.

A firm favourite of the Dons' supporters, he has good command over his box and possesses an extremely powerful kick.

Paul announced his retirement in February 2004 due to a knee injury but he remained on the club's coaching staff and they retained his playing registration.
