Having enjoyed a successful spell on loan with Walsall in 1999-2000, Paul made a permanent move to the Bescot Stadium in the close season.
He featured regularly for the Saddlers all season and netted a number of useful goals including two in the space of 15 minutes in the 5-1 hammering of Swansea City in January.
A lively right-sided midfield player, he provided plenty of thrust and served up some delicious crosses for the club's powerful strike force.
Paul joined Tranmere Rovers in March 2004 with a contract to the end of the season that was later extended to June 2005.
Paul joined Chesterfield in July 2005 with a two-year contract.
