Evans had another excellent season for Brentford in 2000-01 when he was a near ever-present.

He provided inspirational leadership, organising the team on the field and netting his usual share of long-range goals including a cracking 30-yarder in the 2-1 win over Walsall in October.

He won a runners-up medal in the LDV Vans Trophy as a member of the Bees side that were defeated 2-1 by Port Vale at the Millenium Stadium.

A powerful ball-winning midfield player, he is also the team's penalty taker.

After leading the Bees to the Second Division Play-Off Final in May 2002, Evans turned down the offer of a new contract and joined Bradford City on a four-year contract but was made available for transfer in January 2004.

Evans joined Nottingham Forest in March 2004 with a contract to June 2006.

He joined Swindon Town in August 2006 with a one-year contract.
