An all-time United 'great', a precocious goal scorer who looked destined for World stardom. Youngest World Cup player and FA Cup Final goal scorer. Towards the end of his United career he was successfully converted to an attacking midfielder, scoring a wonderful goal to win the 1985 FA Cup final against Everton. Worshipped by the Stretford End who saw in Whiteside the sort of player they dreamed of being. Injuries forced his retirement. Now a football physio.
