An undemonstrative and reliable keeper, Norman was Newcastle's regular keeper for three years in the Second Division during the mid-thirties. He later returned as a guest player during war-time matches.
Norman was signed from Newcastle in December 1938, but only had a limited number of chances with United before WW2 broke out. Regarded as safe and reliable. Did not appear after the war.
