Nile Ranger, who played for Southampton as a trainee, had his contract at Newcastle United extended to June 2012 in April 2009.
Nile's hopes of continuing the fine tradition of Newcastle No. 9s were given a dual boost in 2009 when he won the Wor Jackie Milburn Trophy and was offered a new contract by manager Alan Shearer.
He joined Swindon Town in August 2013 with a one-year contract that was cancelled in May 2014.
Nile joined Blackpool in August 2014 with a one-year contract that was extended to June 2016 in May 2015 before it was cancelled in February 2016.
He joined Southend United in August 2016 with a one-year contract that was extended to June 2020 in December 2016 before it was cancelled in January 2018.
