After arriving relatively unheralded at Turf Moor, this former Greek international goalkeeper saved a penalty on his debut for Burnley in a Worthington Cup tie against Crystal Palace. Four days later he produced a string of brilliant saves at Huddersfield to help the Clarets win three points and became an instant hero of the club's fans. Nik went on to produce a string of outstanding performances throughout 2000-01 and a late save at Gillingham earned him the Nationwide 'Save of the Month' award for January. He appears to have it all as a 'keeper: positional sense, good distribution, safe handling and capable of the spectacular when necessary.
