Nigel Quashie

Date of birth20 July 1978
Place of birthPeckham
NationalityScottish
Weight78 kg
Height1.83 m
PositionMidfielder

Quashie began his career at Queens Park Rangers where he signed professional forms in August 1995.

He made the first team but was struck down by illness towards the end of the 1995-96 season.

He came back to fitness and made the first team in September before injury ruled him out until towards the end of the season.

He returned to the side and completed the season by winning his first England Under-21 cap at the end of May.

He had a good next season but was snapped up by Premiership side Nottingham Forest for £2.5 million in August 1998.

He took time to settle and his 1998-99 season ended after he broke his foot.

He never really settled in the Midlands and moved to Portsmouth in August 2000 for a reported £650,000 fee.

He impressed in his first season at Pompey with some powerful shooting.

He netted three spectacular goals, the best of which came against Norwich City when he ran with the ball from the halfway line before unleashing a tremendous 40-yard shot into the top corner of the net.

A player with a fine first touch, useful turn of pace and a good pass, he still needs to find greater consistency to his game.

He was unfortunately hampered by a knee injury that restricted his appearances in the closing stages of the 2000-01 campaign.

Quashie joined Southampton in January 2005 with a contract to June 2008.

He joined West Bromwich Albion in January 2006 with a contract to June 2009.

Quashie joined West Ham United in January 2007 with a contract to June 2010.

He returned to Queens Park Rangers in January 2010 with a contract to June 2010.
