A regular for French First Division side Le Havre in 1999-2000 Nicolas moved to Sheffield United on a three-month loan deal in the close season following his club's relegation. He began the new campaign in the Blades' first team but then lost his place to the in-form Wayne Quinn and was subsequently sidelined by injury until shortly before his loan period was due to end. He duly returned to Le Havre only to find some difficulty in regaining his first team place there. He is a left-sided wing back who is quick and has excellent control. He was reported to have joined Grenoble in the summer.
