Regarded as one of the best goalkeepers outside the Premiership, Nico has firmly established himself in English football and won the hearts of the Huddersfield Town fans.
He celebrated his 100th league appearance for the Terriers in the away defeat at Grimsby Town in October 2000, and only suspension following a red card at Blackburn Rovers prevented him from being an ever-present for the second consecutive season.
A superb all-round 'keeper, he handles the ball well, is quick to turn defence into attack and generally makes at least one outstanding save every match.
Nico's contract at Birmingham City was extended to June 2006 in July 2004.
