One of a number of very promising youngsters on Leyton Orient's books, Nicky Shorey made several appearances at both left back and left midfield during the first half of 2000-01.
His exploits soon attracted the attention of bigger clubs and in February he was sold to Reading.
Nicky's contract at Reading was extended to June 2007 in September 2004, then to June 2009 in August 2006.
He joined Aston Villa in August 2008 with a three-year contract.
Nicky joined West Bromwich Albion in August 2010 with a two-year contract.
He re-joined Reading in July 2012 with a one-year contract.
Nicky joined Bristol City in August 2013 with a contract to December 2013.
He joined Portsmouth in January 2014 with a contract to June 2014 that was extended to June 2015 in May 2014.
Nicky joined Colchester United in January 2016 with a contract to June 2016.
