Ross joined Leeds United from trainee but moved on to Stockport County in search of more first team opportunities. Although these were restricted to a couple of appearances from the bench, he did find the net regularly for the Hatters reserves and this earned him a new contract with the First Division side.
Ross was made available for transfer by Macclesfield Town in August 2004 before his contract was cancelled in November 2004.
