Edwards was again the undisputed number one 'keeper at Rochdale in 2000-01 and also captained the side.
He demonstrated his shot stopping skills on many occasions, helping Dale to maintain one of the best defensive records away from home of any club in the Football League.
Edwards extended his Rochdale contract to June 2005 in July 2004.
He then joined Bury with a one-year contract.
