Former England U-21 international. Although he scored Oldham's opening goal of the 2000-01 campaign in the 4-1 win over Port Vale Neil had a somewhat troubled time last season. He suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury after falling awkwardly in the game at Stoke in October and although he battled back to fitness and managed a couple of appearances towards the end of the season he was released when his contract expired in the summer. A very experienced right wing back he can still deliver a fine cross from the flank.
