Sheron failed to reach the heights of form he had shown at Barnsley in 1999-00 and struggled to find the net in First Division games in 2000-01. However, he seemed to have no trouble in the Worthington Cup matches, scoring five goals in five games including doubles against Rotherham United and Crewe Alexandra.
He spent much of the season in an unfamiliar wide-right role and following a change of manager his confidence seemed to drop, leading to fewer senior opportunities. A skilful striker who links up well with his colleagues, Sheron joined Blackpool in a one-year deal in July 2003. He signed for Shrewsbury Town in March 2005 with a contract to the end of the 2004-05 season.
