Mike Flynn

Stockport County's inspirational skipper rarely missed a game in 2000-01 and was one of the cornerstones in a defence that conceded just four goals in the final nine games to provide the foundation on which the Hatters' built their successful First Division survival campaign.

An uncompromising central defender, he led the team by example and to finish the season in fifth place in the club's all-time appearance list.

Mike left Stockport for Barnsley in March 2002 and, after a loan spell, agreed to a permanent switch to Blackpool twelve months later with a contract to June 2004 that was subsequently extended for a further year.
