Kuipers suffered the ignominy of being substituted at half time in the opening game of 2000-01 at Southend United but by September he was back in the Brighton & Hove Albion line-up and he remained the club's first-choice 'keeper for all but a short spell for the remainder of the campaign.
An excellent shot stopper, he was formerly in the Dutch marines and bought himself out to pursue a career in professional football.
Kuipers's contract at Brighton was extended to June 2007 in February 2005.
After being made available for transfer in May 2006, his Seagulls deal was extended to June 2008 in May 2007 then to June 2010 in June 2008.
Kuipers's contract at Crawley Town was extended to June 2013 in May 2012 but was cancelled in January 2013.
He joined Barnet in March 2013 with a contract to the end of the season.
