This exciting young striker featured in a handful of games for Sunderland in the early part of 2000-01, and scored in the Worthington Cup second leg win at Luton Town.
In January, he joined Second Division Swindon Town for an extended loan period in a move that proved beneficial to both player and club.
He announced his arrival in spectacular fashion, scoring within three minutes of his debut against Bury, and then winning a penalty when he was brought down in the box following a mazy run.
He is a very lively forward with great pace, who can take on and beat defenders with his direct style of play.
He continued to be a regular for the Republic of Ireland Under-21 team winning five more caps during the season.
Michael joined Grimsby Town in July 2004 with a two-year contract.
He was made available for transfer in August 2006.
