Oakes firmly established himself as Wolverhampton Wanderers number one 'keeper in 2000-01 and went on to become an ever-present in the club's First Division games.
Although not completely settled in the early stages of the campaign, he grew more confident as the season progressed and his defenders became used to him.
A talented young goalkeeper who makes some excellent flying saves.
Oakes, who is the son of the former Manchester City player Alan Oakes, had his contract at Wolverhampton Wanderers extended to June 2007 in May 2005.
