This popular Birmingham City defender was a model of consistency in 2000-01 and formed an excellent partnership with Darren Purse in the heart of the back line.
Very quick and with a good leap, Michael enhanced his reputation as one of the best centre halves outside the Premier League.
A great recovery tackler, he decided to turn down overtures by Jamaica after they left him out of their early-season games.
Michael joined Derby County in August 2003 with a three-year contract.
This was extended to June 2008 in January 2006.
After a loan spell, Michael joined Notts County in July 2008 with a one-year contract.
