Having come up through the ranks at Cheltenham, Michael continued to make steady progress in 2000-01. He started a Football League game for the first time when he played in the local 'derby' at Kidderminster in November, producing a fine performance and also appearing in a handful more senior games. His oppor-tunities were to some extent limited by the form of the regular midfield pairing of Lee Howells and Mark Yates.
Having moved on to Swansea City on a short-term contract, Michael was released by the Swans in November 2002.
