A graduate of Notts County's youth system, Michael gained further senior experience when he was called up for a run in the first team in 2001 and he again made a solid impact, scoring his first-ever Football League goal with a superb left-foot shot to clinch a 1-0 win at Swansea City in February.
A promising central midfield ball-winner with a never-say-die attitude, Michael began the 2003-04 season at Notts County on weekly terms which were terminated in January 2004.
