Blackwood joined Wrexham during the 2000 summer break and appeared in the line up for the opening match of the season against Bristol City but picked up a cartilage injury which required surgery.
It was not until March that he returned to full fitness and he then featured mostly from the subs' bench.
He is a very promising wide left-sided midfield player.
