Matt Richards signed for his local club Ipswich Town after being spotted as a ten year-old playing for local boys club Harlow Sports Centre.
He was an important member of the Under-17 team and signed for the academy full time in July 2001.
Matt agreed a new three-year deal with the Portman Road club in June 2003.
It was extended to June 2009 in February 2006 but was made available for transfer in May 2008.
He joined Walsall in August 2009 with a two-year contract.
Matt joined Shrewsbury Town in July 2011 with a two-year contract.
He joined Cheltenham Town in July 2013 with a two-year contract.
Matt joined Dagenham & Redbridge in August 2015 with a one-year contract.
