After enjoying an excellent season with Oxford United in 1999-2000 Matt found things much tougher last term. Managerial changes and playing in a struggle side did not help him but he seemed to be to unable stamp his authority on games in the manner that he had previously done. Best used in a role just behind the front two or pushing through from midfield.
