An excellent attacking left back, Matt enjoyed another fine season for Leyton Orient in 2000-01.

A master with free kicks and penalties, he finished as the team's third-highest scorer with eight goals, the best and most important of which was undoubtedly a 30-yard screamer in the Play-Off semi-final win over Hull City.

Again watched by several bigger clubs, he was deservedly voted into the PFA's Third Division Team of the Year for the second successive season.

With undoubtedly the ability to play at a higher level, following the breakdown of contract negotiations, Matt was placed on the transfer list in January 2002 prior to signing a new two-year contract in March 2002.

His Os' contract was extended to June 2007 in March 2004, then to June 2009 in May 2007.

Matt joined Colchester United in June 2008 with a two-year contract.
