Despite being sidelined by injuries for a lengthy spell in the autumn Matt produced another season full of composed and authorative displays at the heart of the Norwich City defence in 2000-01.
An assured central defender who combines a resolute approach to defending with a desire to retain possession he remains club captain at Carrow Road.
Matt joined Watford in July 2007 with a one-year contract.
