Bowman entered Sheffield Wednesday's history books as the club's youngest ever outfield player when he came on as a substitute in the Carling Cup defeat to Wrexham on 23 August 2006, aged 16 years and 205 days.

It beat Mark Platts' record by 58 days, although goalkeeper Peter Fox retains the overall youngest player tag, having made his Owls debut at home to Orient in March 1973 aged 15 years and 269 days.
