Barrass had an unfortunate time with injuries during 2000-01 when he was absent for all but a few weeks of the campaign. He contracted glandular fever during the pre-season and although he made a brief return to action in September he then suffered cartilage damage during training and required corrective surgery. He eventually returned to fitness in the closing weeks of the season to make a late appearance from the subs' bench in the final game at Brentford. Barrass is a promising young right back who is strong in the tackle and effective in the air.
Barrass announced his retirement due to a knee injury in July 2005.
